Festival History

This festival was initiated in 2008 by the nonprofit Dedham Square Circle (DSC), was originally known as “Dedham Square MusicFest,” and was held on the lawn at First Church on High Street in Dedham. In 2009, the Dedham Square Circle reached out to include two additional local nonprofit organizations as partners in this event. The 2009 and 2010 festivals were a collaboration among the Dedham Square Circle, Dedham Community House (DCH) and Dedham School of Music (DSM), and the festival was moved to the field behind DCH. In 2010, an art component was added to the day and the name was expanded to “Dedham Square Music & Art Festival.” Having firmly established the event and looking to focus on other priorities, the Dedham Square Circle has left the festival in the capable hands of DCH and DSM. As always, this year’s festival will feature talented local musicians from a variety of styles. Attendees will also find fine local artists and crafters, food vendors, community tables, children’s activities and more.
